We're going offline for a few weeks

The pilot phase of our project is complete. Now it's time to find financial backing!

We launched this site to demonstrate the value of pithy micro-analysis of current scientific and environmental news. Our content is 100 percent original, delivered by reporters representing a cross section of the media universe, including the New York Times, PBS News Hour, CNN, Scientific American, NPR, Mother Jones, the BBC, Newsweek, and many others. Just glance at the impressive list of writers who have thoughtfully illuminated our first 23 editions.

We think we've got a formula that works. Now our all-volunteer editorial and production team is turning its attention to finding financial support to sustain our weekly operation.

We continue to value your feedback and input and look forward to returning to work later this year.

Meanwhile, browse through nearly 100 topic features we've already run or drop us a note if there's something you'd like to see us cover in the future.
